The Berkely Earth Surface Temperature Project

The Berkely Earth Surface Temperature Project (www.berkeleyearth.org) has combined 15 data sets with over 30,000 stations in order to estimate the global land temperature over time. This movie illustrates where observations are available, what the global average temperature is estimated to be, and temperatures in terms of deviations from the average temperature between 1950 and 1999. Notice how the earth gets redder, meaning warmer, in most areas, especially towards the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century.
